Whether you’re attending your high school prom or a prominent, black tie affair, a gorgeous gown can make or break the event. One of the first questions asked when you’ve confirmed your attendance is, “What am I going to wear?”
In the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, the prom is a semi-formal (black tie) dance or gathering of high school students. The event is typically in May or June, toward the end of the school year. Proms are a huge tradition of popular culture and are considered a major event among high school students. The term “prom” is short for “promenade.”
Be the belle of the ball in a gorgeous, glorious, glowing gown!
Prom Fun Fact: In tradition, a Prom King and Prom Queen may be revealed. These are honorary titles usually awarded to seniors. The prom king and queen are often times given crowns to wear. Juniors honored are generally called Prom Prince and Prom Princess!
Steal the scene from the prom queen in these gorgeous gowns!
Many gals attending prom select floor length evening gowns or dresses, but shorter dresses look just as lovely. Also, if money is tight, costume jewelry looks just as beautiful and elegant as the real thing! Earrings, necklaces, chokers, rings, you can spruce up your dress with many glitzy pieces of bling!
On the feet? You’re talking to me, so of course, high heels are a must! The higher the heel, the more elegant the look and feel! A sandaled, strappy high heel or a platform stiletto elongates your look. Whether you want to doll up your face with mascara, eye shadow, lipstick and blush, or go the more natural route, when you’re done up to the nines, you’re beauty is what everyone will be talking about! You, dazzling diva, simply shine!
In addition to the length and style of your dress, the color plays a huge part in any gal’s selection. Prom is the time to glam up big time, so go with the color that you feel looks great on you and brings out your upbeat charm and personality!
“Well, well, you look swell!”
“Yes, I agree. You wear it well!”
Prom Fun Fact: Events similar to prom take place in other parts of the world. In Australia, the event is called a school formal. In Ireland, a debutante ball or Debs may be held. Debutante balls are also arranged in Australia. In Poland, high schools organize a “studniowka”.
For me personally, style wise, I find mermaid dresses to be the most lovely evening gowns of all. Due to their form-fitting cut and their slender, slinky look, mermaid gowns blow the other styles out of the water! There may be other fish in the sea, but when you’ve tucked your fabulous physique into the mermaid gown, you’ll stand out to a tee!
Of course, there are no rights or wrongs in fashion. So whatever cut and style you prefer, go for it. From ballroom gowns to frilly skirts, if you love your dress, it is simply the best!
Prom Fun Fact: In the early days of high school proms, proms served as a heavily-documented occasion, similar to a milestone event such as first communion or a wedding. Often times, the prom is the first major “dress up” social event for teenagers!
Whether you’re getting to the prom in a horse and carriage or a long, sleek limousine, every gal attending the prom carries the beauty of the prom queen!
Heighten the prom thrill…dress to kill!
Another important style flair for prom is how you wear your hair! Long or short, flowing or rolled into a bun, how you show off you glorious mane is part of the overall dress up fun!
Prom Fun Fact: Prom continues to be a notable event in the social climate of high schools. In some areas, the traditions of proms are not as rigid as they once were, with some schools allowing individuals or groups to attend instead of couples.
Prom isn’t only a time for girls to dress to the nines. Boys rock a great look themselves, generally dressed in a formal suit or tuxedo, paired with ties or bow ties, vests and styling dance shoes.
Boogie down and dance away the blues, baby, dressed in whatever fashion you prefer!
Whatever gorgeous gown you choose, you’ll look so regal you can’t lose!
Pull up in style adorned in your shimmering gown and your fabulous smile!
